3. Avoid mobiles, internet and television as far as possible.

4. Students must study from study material and do practice from practice manual. Wherever a particular topic or point is not clear, a student may refer to a standard text/reference book.

5. Students should refer suggested answers of questions set in last five/six examinations and Revision Test Papers. It is strongly recommended to solve the questions first without referring to solutions and then comparing the answers with the solutions given. Such an approach would help in knowing a point of mistake and presentation pattern of an answer.

6. In legal papers, Section and its provision are to be given correctly. If a student is not sure about the Section number then he should not quote the same.

Why 90% of Commerce Graduates Do Not Get Good Jobs After B.Com?

Best B.Com (Hons) College in Lucknow.

Today, in the competitive job market scenario, merely having a graduate degree like B Com is not enough to land you in a good position. Students need to have a proper knowledge and additional competencies rather than just a B.Com degree to face the strong competition in life.

It is generally believed that earning a bachelor’s degree, particularly B.Com degree in the commerce stream is a pretty good career move and often the minimum requirement for getting a job. Although in many cases, this is correct,  it might be misleading sometimes. And here’s why.

Procrastinating the Career Choice: Most of the students get into commerce stream with no understanding of what it involves. Many students are under the false impression that career moves are to be made after graduation only. The more you postpone this decision, the lesser are the career choices you can make.

No practical skill sets: While there can be a plethora of job opportunities for B.Com graduates, the major game changer becomes the salary package and position and for that merely a B.Com degree is not enough. These days, organizations prefer candidates with additional practical skill sets. Students generally don’t have an idea about the available options of parallel courses that might boost the value of their B.Com degree.

Joining unrelated courses: Without a proper assessment of one’s own strengths and weaknesses, students join certain courses. This could be either because of personal fascination or peer pressure. But at the end, it doesn’t work out, leaving them with poor & underpaid jobs.

Focusing on Academic Courses only: Usually, there are three types of courses in the commerce segment i.e., academic courses (like B.Com), professional courses (like CS, CA etc.) and vocational courses (like Banking & Finance etc.). Generally, students tend to rely only on the academic courses with no inclination towards acquiring practical skill sets. But students with practical skills and vocational courses are given more preference by recruiters. So, it makes much more sense for students to pursue a B.Com degree along with CS and Banking & Finance course.

One Institute that offers 3-in-1 UG Diploma course (Advance Diploma in Banking & Finance+ B.Com (Delhi University)+ Company Secretary) for 10+2 students in three years is the Institute of Banking & Finance (IBF).

This course intelligently combines the academic, professional and vocational course in the commerce stream. While academic course i.e., B.Com degree is suited to give theoretical knowledge, the professional course i.e., CS and vocational course i.e., Banking & Finance make the student industry-ready. Students with this degree have an upper edge over those who have finished only their B.Com degree after class 12th.

With a major part of Delhi University’s B.Com embedded in the curriculum, the students in this course study one of the best-crafted syllabuses in the country. With visiting faculty from regular Delhi University Colleges, it is same as pursuing a regular B.Com Degree from Delhi University along with Advanced Diploma in Banking & Finance.

To make it globally oriented, IBF also holds Global Lecture Series from Ivy League Institutions every week through web streaming of lectures from Harvard, MIT etc. The International guest faculty is invited twice a year and top ranking students from the Institute get an opportunity to go on an Asian Banking Tour for global exposure.

In a nutshell

Thus, it is better for the students to opt for B.com rather than doing something else like BBA. While after BBA, students can only do MBA, after B.Com, students can opt for various options like MBA, M.Com, CA, ICWA and so on. But a mere B.Com degree will not suffice. If additional course like CS and Banking & Finance are added to the B.Com degree, students can become industry-ready and start with better salaries and positions.
